A few animal cards

Hey everyone,

It has been a while since I last wrote on my blog, but I'm afraid I was a bit tired of everything.  The lack of sunshine finally had cought up with me.  Luckily I had a break coming up and I really needed it.  Unfortunately when I went back to work, my co-workers had their break and I got a bit stuck with all the work that landed on my desk.

But now I found some me-time and I made a few cards.
1st is for Crazy for Cas: http://micassucas.blogspot.be/2013/04/challenge-16-sketch.html

I used purple cardstock I still had lying around and a small piece of green cardstock.  I've added a sticker embellishment on it.

2nd is for Creanijn: http://creanijn.blogspot.be/2013/03/ckc007-een-kaart-met-een-dier.html

I used white cardstock and a piece of patterened paper that I've cut in a shape.  I used a stamp from Boofle with a cute looking dog.

Hopefully you'll see me back soon.

I'm back in the game with a few challenges.

Hey everyone,

I know I haven't been around much, I was having some quality time with the family.

I watched a really good movie together with my daughter last week.  She's almost 11 and now she's really getting into Twilight.  But luckily, it's no punishment to watch all the movies with her.
Now we have some mother-daughter quality time, crawling under a blanket together, sipping on a soda and eating a few chocolates.  Could there be anything better?

Last friday, I had dinner with some colleagues at Eetkaffee Multatuli at Gent, it was superb by the way.  I picked up Ann and we drove to Gent, found a parking spot but we almost walked by the restaurant. Luckily I had my GPS with me :-)
It's situated in an old house with high ceilings and a courtyard where there's a terras where you can sit in summer. It's still looks like it used to be in those days (of course with some modern features)

And on saterday, me and my hubbie had dinner in Antwerp with some friends.  Arround X-mas I bought this coupon with the idea to have dinner for 2.  But with friends is also very pleasant.  It was at 't Karveel in Antwerp but it will be the last time!  I made reservations 2 weeks in advance and the same night it was completely overbooked, we had to wait an hour before we could get a table.  Then it took an hour to get our dinner, then waiting for cutlery, then the fries, then sauce for the steak.  We never saw the bottle of water we've ordered. BUT we had a lot of fun.

Sunday, was all about peace and quiet! After 2 nights in a row, not getting enough sleep, I just needed to catch up on it because then the working week starts with a lot of deadlines and a few meetings and workshops.

But here are a few things I made:

Something for Crazy for Cas:
http://micassucas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/challenge14-lets-be-inspired.html

I used white cardstock as a basis and 2 leftover pieces of patterened paper.  I used the stamps I bought last week.

One for Creanijn

I used white cardstock as a basis and a leftover doublesided patterened paper. The glossy side to make it really visible and the other side to make a difference.

And 1 just for myself

Purple cardstock as a basis and 2 leftovers patterened paper.  I punched out some flowers with the Nellie Snellen punchout and added little pearls for the center of the flower.

Stay tuned for more.

See you next week! Kaat.

No challenges, just scrapping away

Hi everyone,

I know you haven't heard of me last week, but somehow I got really occupied on my reading.  My sister gave me a few books from Matthew Reilly (an Australian author) and he got me hooked.

The first 3 books I read a while ago: Seven Ancient Wonders, The Six Sacred Stones and The Five Greatest Warriors.  And... I got addicted!  He writes so fluently, there's never a dull moment in the book.
I started the 1st and I just couldn't let go. And when I finished it, I couldn't wait to start the next one's!

Now I'm reading 'Area 7', different main character but it looks very promising (I'm still in the beginning).

I did make a few cards and an LO but I didn't have a chance to enter challenges.  The first card is one I made for my colleague Philippe who's dad past away, the second I made for my teamlead Chris' birthday.

The LO is from a daytrip we did to Bruges.  We've visited the icesculptures: 'The wonders of the world' and afterwords we walked through the city, the convent yard passing the river.  This is still a gorgeous city to visit.

Another week, more challenges

Hey everyone,

Sometimes it seems that several things come together at one point and that doesn't necesarely mean it's a good thing.  2 weeks ago, my washingmachine broke down, we did get a new one fairly quick but of course by then the laudry was huge.  Last weekend, well just say that the new washingmachine did a huge job, I did all the laundry, but unfortunately that also means a lot of folding and ironing.
It took an entire sunday to get comfortable!

On sunday we went to see my grandmother at the retirementhome, she's still quit well for her age (87).  Sometimes she's muttering about those old people over there or she gets annoyed by her daughter who she thinks is older in saying and doing, hahahaha...
Now, my grandmother is knitting scarfs for every grandchild and greatgrandchild she has, we just need to supply her with yarn, and this time it was my son's turn for one. He's quit pleased with it!

But now, challenges!

First one is from 'another freaking scrapping challenge' with a theme: PASSION.  Everyone who knows me well, knows that I'm a huge metalfan, more specific, Rammstein.  I've been following them since 2001, so in tribute to them I've made this LO.

I used white cardstock as a basis and a sheet of patterened paper of the Poppy beach grass from S.E.I.
As a title I chose 'Feuer Frei' because they use a lot of pyrotechnics in their shows as you can see on 1 of the pictures.  It's also the title of a song of theirs.

For the 2nd challenge I used the sketch of 'another freaking scrapping challenge' and chose a beautiful picture of my daughter Eleni. I used 2 sheets of patterened paper from the What's up collection from Basic Grey. From the leftovers I punched out flowers.

I've combined the challenge from Dutch Dare (Love is all around) with the challenge from Creanijn (to use journaling on strips of paper).  I used 2 sheets of patterened paper from the Marjolaine collection from Basic Grey. I immediately fell in love with that paperpad, the green and blue colors, the patterns they've used.  On new years day I took a snapshot of the grandparents with their grandchildren after they've read their new years wishes.

It's clear to me that they love all their grandchildren, no matter what!

2 cards - 4 challenges

Hey everyone,

I've had a really busy week this week. I mentioned last time that I was headed for Ikea and I found a lot of storageboxes for my daughter and a nice lamp for my livingroom. But unfortunately no storagecloset/box for the shoes yet.

On saturday I had a lot of baking to do for my parent's in law 45 year-anniversary-party on sunday.  Together with my sister in law we baked enough cakes and pies for an entire army :-)
Of course, on sunday we had to party with the family!

I tried to combine 4 challenges on 2 cards and this is how it worked out:

http://creanijn.blogspot.be/2013/01/ckc005-recycleer-iets-op-je-kaart.html

I've combined the sketch from MOJOmonday with 'recycle something on your card'.  I've used plain red cardstock and 1 sheet of red patterened paper with white polka dots.  I've embossed a piece of white cardstock and used the image of a young lady (from an older card).  I've added a flowersticker and finally stamped 'You make me Smile'.

http://www.palspaperarts.com/2013/02/ppa152-spring-fresh-color-challenge.html

I've combined the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches with the asked colors in Pals Paper Arts.  Well I least I tried to get as close as I could.  I've started with white cardstock and I had some leftover pieces of patterened paper wich combined nicely.  I added the 2 circles in red to make more contrast.  And do we always need a reason to send someone a card?

See you next time! Kaat

A few more challenges

Hey everyone,

it's thursday again.  I've been home for a few days, my son was ill with the flu and was in need of some mommy attention.  Today was dad's turn.

Also, vacation is just arround the corner and we got lots of things to do on our list.  We're going to Ikea because I'm in desperate need of some storageboxes for my daughters toys and craftingthings and please please something to store all of our shoes (because now they're just lying arround and it's really bugging me!)

Now, where you all come to see my blog, a new LO and a few cards for a few challenges.

First challenge is from MOJOmonday
http://mojomonday.blogspot.be/2013/02/mojo-monday-279-contest.html

Second challenge is from Freshly Made Sketches
http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.be/2013/02/freshly-made-sketches-72-sketch-by-cindy.html

Third challenge is from Mi Cas es su Cas, I've croched the flower myself.
http://micassucas.blogspot.be/2013/02/challenge-13-sketch.html

And last but not least, another LO with pictures from the old hat.  These cute little cars are from 1929-1931 and still drive arround, but mostly their owners just like to show them arround.

See you next time!

baby Arthur

Hi everyone,

I know I'm a bit late but I really wanted to share my card for Mojo Monday #278 and here it is:
I used dark blue cardstock as a base and 2 different sheets of patterened paper from a vintage collection I still had.  I combined it with plain blue ribbon and some buttons.  The flower I croched myself.

Last week my first cousin's wife gave birth to a beautifull baby boy called Arthur.  I was quit a bit surprised by the name they chose but it kind of grows on you.  Hopefully he'll be strong and brave just as the king they named him to!

But for now, he's just gorgeous.  So I wanted something sweet but not to much.  I think this is a nice combo.  The colors and the stamp say 'boy' but the stripes give it that little bit more.

Sometimes when I don't feel like doing nothing, I go through pictures and already try to make an example LO and a title and when I do have time, I just go looking for paper and put all the pieces together.

Here's one from my son's 9th birthday last november.  Since I'm also trying to use some of my older scrapbookpaper, these are perfect opportunities.  Look at him blowing his candles!

See you next time!
